Bentonville, AR - Table Mesa Bistro Food Review
Table Mesa Bistro
108 E Central Ave, Bentonville, AR 72712
A must try!!!. So, I let my facebook users know I am heading to Bentonville today, and am looking for suggestions on a place to try. Within very short order I have several suggestions, but one stands out for a few reasons. And that was Table Mesa Bistro. I have had several of my viewers suggest this little Bistro several times, and in fact I have gotten several emails from folks that were just "sold" on their offerings.
Table Mesa Bistro is located in the Bentonville on East Central Street, just between Main St and NE A St. If you choose a seat next to their front windows, you have a lovely view of the park and fountain. I tend to be a people watcher by nature, I just love to see how other people interact with the environment around them. Some people like to watch birds, I like studying human interaction.
Immediately when you walk in you get the feeling that you are "comfortable" here, for lack of a better word. The interior of the establishment is warm and very inviting, decorated in nice earth tones. Everything from the wicker seated chairs, to the earthy table clothes beckons you, telling you its ok to sit and stay awhile.
The interior of the establishment was very clean as well, and that is a big thing to me. If I go in to a restaurant and they do not show pride in their facility, what are the chances that they will show pride in their food? Slim to none, that's how much. Well here you can tell the employees take pride in their facility. Another big "stickler" for me, are bathrooms. To me, the state of their bathroom says a lot about the quality of their product as a whole. I could share some horror stories with you about bathrooms at restaurants I have been to, and never went back to. Well, their bathrooms were immaculate.
Now, I bet you are curious about the food right? Well, I saved the best for last! The food was outstanding! And that is not something you hear from me everyday, it takes a lot to impress me. But suffice it to say, I was impressed. Their menu has a wonderful selection but is not overwhelming. I have gone into some places where the menu could take days just to figure out.
When I asked my waiter for his suggestions, he was more than happy to suggest several dishes, highlighting each one for my consideration. For those of you who know me and follow my discussions about the importance of customer service, you will know I can be a tough critic of poor service. Well, there was none of that here. My waiter stayed on top of my table, and made my visit there quite enjoyable. So top marks go to their staff!
My two choices were the Ceviche de Ataun y Salmon and the fish tacos. My waiter strongly suggested the fish tacos, stating that they were some of the best around. When asked about the various ingredients my waiter seemed very knowledgeable and forthcoming with information.
The Ceviche de Ataun y Salmon contained sushi grade Ahi Tuna, smoked salmon, tossed with crunchy jicama and a tangy red raspberry chili salsa. Served on an avocado hass. The vegetables and greens were absolutely fresh. The cost of this meal was $10.
The Ceviche was very vibrant, and had the most wonderful taste. Just the perfect kick, but not overpowering. The Tuna and the Salmon were perfect, and were of a high quality. This makes all the difference in the world, and can make or break a Ceviche for me. Good, fresh ingredients win the day each and every time!
Next, was the fish taco. And for those of you that have a bad mental image (not to mention taste) of "fish tacos" due to some certain fast food establishments incarnations of the fish taco, rest assured these fish tacos are no where close to the others. Night and day difference.
I received two fish tacos on my plate, with a side of Mexican rice and black beans. The tacos were comprised of fresh tortillas, with grilled Mahi Mahi, dusted with their house spice blend, chipotle mayo, fresh avocado, sauteed onions, peppers and pico de gallo.
The ingredients were fresh, fresh, fresh. The Mahi Mahi was cooked to perfection, and seasoned perfectly. Again, the freshness of the ingredients can make or break a meal, and in this instance, it made the meal. This meal ran me $11.
This was my first visit to their location, and from what I experienced today, it will most certainly not be my last. In my opinion this was money well spent. I would highly recommend you stopping by there, as there are plenty of choices on their menu. And the pricing is perfect for the quality of food and the exceptional service!
