Eureka Springs, AR - Bavarian Inn Restaurant Food Review
Bavarian Inn Restaurant
329 W. Van Buren
Eureka Springs, AR 72632
A must stop when in Eureka Springs, Arkansas if you are a fan of German food.
I love the coziness of the place, it is a nice place to take your significant other for a romantic dinner. It has on old world feel to it, many would call the decor dated and yes it is kind of like stepping back to the 1970's a little bit, but it works, I actually like the feel of the place.
Eating there several times, I have had the opportunity to try several of their offerings. I love to start out with sauerkraut soup, it hits the spot, especially on a cold day.
For their mains, if you enjoy duck you should try their roast duck, it is a 1/4 duck. Cooked perfectly, the fat rendered just the way it should be with a natural duck gravy, bohemian dumplings and sweet and sour cabbage.
Their wiener schnitzel is a winner as well, served with seasonal vegetables and potatoes. As is their goulash which consists of chunks of Angus beef simmered in a rich and bold brown sauce, seasoned with Hungarian paprika, onions and garlic. Served with bohemian dumplings.
The shrimp St. Helen is also a great dish for those that love shrimp. Jumbo shrimps, sauteed in a cream sauce of mushroom, onions, bell pepper and tomato. Served with seasonal vegetables and potatoes.
For a small up charge you can share a dinner plate.
There have been a few times I have had to wait a decent amount of time to be seated, but only once was it somewhere beyond an amount of time I felt was acceptable and after the second time of asking about being seated I actually left. So I have to ding them a few points there. I understand though that there are times restaurants have issues, perhaps they had several staff call in that day?
What I know is that the majority of my visits there have been good and I will go back. I would strongly suggest this restaurant to my readers that find themselves in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.
